"Nature looks dead in winter because her life is gathered into her heart. She withers the plant down to the root that she may grow it up again fairer and stronger. She calls her family together within her inmost home to prepare them for being scattered abroad upon the face of the earth." Hugh Macmillan

foggy figures
Wednesday we had a VERY busy day!! I worked at the District Office during the day, picked the boys up from school, did homework, got everyone ready for church, headed to church extra early for a last minute ensemble practice and then ran to Sonic for a drive-thru dinner inbetween my practice and church service! Whew! We don't have too many jam packed days like these so when we do we all tend to feel a little extra frazzled. While we were sitting in a parking spot at Sonic waiting for a dinner to be delivered, I looked back and saw my boys making a memory. They didn't have a movie playing, they didn't have any toys with them and they had left their DS video games at home. Without all of these things, though, they were giggling and laughing and talking to each other! They were having fun! When I watched them for a bit, I found them fogging up the car windows with their breath and then drawing silly pictures! They were having a blast! It was like a mini lesson learned right there in the car. We were in the midst of the craziest day of our week and my boys had found a moment to carve out a memory. It was sweet and, even though I felt frantic about making it to church on time, I myself took a moment to smile and laugh with my boys. It was sweet to listen to them talk about what they had drawn, to watch them interact with each other and to see the boys do something that I remember doing with my sisters as a kid! Life, and making memories, is a beautiful thing.

I'm so glad that you let them do things like that.
