On Sunday evening Maddox came down with a horrible stomach bug. And when I say horrible, I mean HORRIBLE!! We had attended church Sunday morning and Maddox seemed fine. The first time I noticed something might be wrong was at lunch. Maddox didn't seem sick and, in fact, was quite talkative at lunch but he just didn't eat very much which is really unusual for Maddox. He's our little eater!! I didn't think too much of it, though, cause Maddox wasn't acting sick. Then, Sunday evening, as we were getting ready to go to Sunday night church Maddox walked up to me and said his tummy hurt. I wasn't sure if he was just hungry or over tired but I did notice, at that time, that his face looked pretty flushed. Within 30 minutes, I knew without ANY doubt that Maddox was sick. Let's just say that he ended up running to the bathroom over and over again. And not just a handful of times but about every twenty minutes or half hour over the next 7-8 hours...into the middle of the night. It was truly awful!! Maddox and I ended up sleeping on the living room sofa ("sleeping" being used very loosely). We were up and down ALL night...
Even when he's super sick, Maddox still looks cute!! Maddox isn't a good sick person!! Ha!! He's whiny and demanding and literally milks his sickness for all its worth. I really do love taking care of my babies when they are sick, though. Maddox in particular likes to have his back rubbed and likes to be waited on hand and foot until he's back to 100%. During this sickness, though, I'm pretty sure Maddox had figured out by about day two that any time he announced he was "going to throw up" and ran to the bathroom that mommy would come in with him and sit on the floor and rub his back. The last handful of times that Maddox ran to the bathroom he never got sick...I'm pretty sure he just wanted mom's undivided attention...I willingly obliged!! It's good to be needed!!
It has taken Maddox longer then usual to get over this sickness. He missed two days of school. We sent him back to school today but he's still not quite himself. He hasn't eaten very well for three full days but, at this point, I think he's just scared to eat because he got sick SO many times that he's afraid it will happen again. Poor buddy. I'm hoping that tomorrow he'll be back to his normal, awnry self with a big appetite!!
