Saturday was the one day a year that rivals the excitement of Christmas in the state of Oklahoma...we call it BEDLAM!!!! On this day, Oklahoma University and Oklahoma State University rival each other in a football showdown that not only provides the winner with bragging rights for a whole year but often also crowns the Big 12 Champion for the season. This year, Bedlam was bigger then ever!! First of all, OU has beat OSU 8 years in a row (Ugh!) and second, for the first time in school history, a win for OSU would name them Big 12 Champions and send them to their very first BCS Bowl. In fact, there was even a chance OSU would get to play for the National Championship...IF, that is, they could pull off a win against OU. Now, there's something you have to know about Bedlam. Historically, it's a game where the entire football season leading up to this one game can be thrown out the window. All stats, scores and special teams wins no longer matter. Bedlam stands alone. Either team can win. It's a crazy game, to say the least, full of emotion, competition and pride. This year, OSU was actually picked to win Bedlam with a nearly perfect season leading up to the big game. We only had one loss!! If you're an Oklahoma State Cowboy fan you get pretty used to losing to OU. It's sad but true. This year, however, was our year. We not only BEAT the Sooners but we literally WIPED THE FIELD with them!! The game wasn't even close!! When the clock timed out we walked away the winners with a score of 44-10!!!! That's right, WE WON!!!! Finally!!!! I was so happy!!!! Oklahoma State is the Big 12 Champions!!!! Unfortunately, the BCS didn't choose us to play in the National Championship game but we're still playing in a very good bowl game!! I can't wait!! Bedlam was played at night and didn't get over until after 10PM. I was up until after 1AM unable to sleep!!!! I was running on pure adrenaline. I was giddy!!!! The next day, when we got ready for church, I couldn't help but dress us all in ORANGE!!!! GO POKES!!!! OSU #1!!!! (Okay, officially we're number 3, but still...!!!) ORANGE POWER!!!!
