"Nature looks dead in winter because her life is gathered into her heart. She withers the plant down to the root that she may grow it up again fairer and stronger. She calls her family together within her inmost home to prepare them for being scattered abroad upon the face of the earth." Hugh Macmillan

memory tree
Late on the Thursday night before Christmas, we left Aunt Rae's house and went to Noni and Papa's house to spend the night. The next morning, the boys woke up early and after breakfast Noni let them help her decorate her family tree. Noni has two Christmas trees. The one on the main level, in the living room, is a very "decorated" tree, decked out in gold ornaments and lots of tulle, flowers and glittery EVERYTHING!! The tree in the den, however, is filled to the brim with family ornaments her kids have collected over the years and really any ornament that sparks a family memory. Noni still buys each family member (including daughters-in-law!) an ornament every year and hangs it on her downstairs tree!! This year, the boys got in on the action helping decorate the family tree. They had so much fun and were very proud of their work!!
