softer side of Knight

On January 12th, the Knight family got a little bit bigger!! 7lbs bigger that is!! Brandon's younger brother and his wife had their first baby, a little girl named Natalie Reese!! She's gorgeous!! She was born on a Thursday while I was at work and the boys were at school so we couldn't go visit her right away but we loved every single picture we received and the boys even practiced holding their teddy bears before bed that night so that they would be ready to hold their new cousin!!

We finally got to go to Ponca City Friday night after Brandon got off work and we were so excited to visit Uncle Tyler, Aunt April and our new niece/cousin!! Oh and they had already gotten home from the hospital too so it was fun to relax in a home and really spend time with Natalie. Maddox wasn't too sure about holding a "GIRL" (cause when you're five ALL girls have cooties...cousin or not...) but he let us take one picture of him and Natalie together!! I think he's secretly pretty excited...!!!

Ash is a very proud cousin! He thought Natalie was very cute! It was kind of funny, though, because I'm not sure either of my boys thought of Natalie as an actual living person. She was sound asleep (of course, as most newborns are) and so she was very still and quiet but every now and then she would do that typical "newborn" twitch where a babies arms suddenly jerk up and then slowly fall back to their sides. Ya know!? Anyway, every time Natalie would do that Ashtyn would gasp and say in a shocked voice "She's moving!!!!" Haha!! It was so cute!!

I, of course, LOVED LOVED LOVED holding baby Natalie for the first time!! She's such  a sweetie!!

I was hoping (and secretly praying) that when Brandon held Natalie he would catch baby fever...I don't think it worked...he sure looked handsome holding a baby girl though!!

Maddox has always been a mommy's boy. Really he's a "parent's boy" if such a thing exists. Maddox loves his mommy and daddy and I've always wondered what would happen if we had another baby...well, I think we got a small glimpse of what that scene could look like while we took turns holding little Natalie. While I was holding Natalie, Maddox snuggled in right next to me and once even asked me (OK, more like demanded me!) to put my right arm on HIS lap. He didn't want me holding Natalie too close...

and when Brandon was holding Natalie Maddox did the same thing. When Noni came and tried to pick Maddox up so that B could enjoy Natalie, Maddox wasn't going quietly!

Towards the end of our first visit with Natalie, she began to fuss. Her mommy, Auntie April, was holding her at the time and she stood with Natalie and simply said "watch this..." and then she walked Natalie to her daddy, Uncle Tyler, and gave baby girl to her dad. Almost instantly, Natalie quieted and calmed down! Tyler is a natural with his new daughter! He wasn't nervous or anything! It was so neat to watch!

It's so exciting that our family is growing! My sister is due any day now with my first nephew named Noah and Brandon's other brother and his wife are due with their first baby in early June! They're having a girl! Both sides of our families are growing by leaps and bounds! It's so very exciting!
