"Nature looks dead in winter because her life is gathered into her heart. She withers the plant down to the root that she may grow it up again fairer and stronger. She calls her family together within her inmost home to prepare them for being scattered abroad upon the face of the earth." Hugh Macmillan

bathroom boredom
For weeks, months and maybe even YEARS I've been trying to teach Maddox (in the kindest of ways...) that while you're sitting on the toilet and you get bored it's not okay to unroll the entire roll of toilet paper hanging from the wall beside you. I still don't understand the appeal of watching a roll of toilet paper unroll into a puddle on the floor but there must be something exciting about it or else a 5-year-old boy wouldn't take the time to do it! Recently, I went into the bathroom to get ready for bed and found the toilet paper roll a jumbled mess all wadded up over itself and haphazardly rolled in an obvious hurry! Hmmmmm! I wonder who could have done this!? By the time I found this little surprise, all I could do was laugh and replace the roll. It's moments like these that we'll one day look back on and only wish they were still happening in our house. I love to see the evidence of children in every corner of my home.
