Well...if you ask me, Fine Arts was a success!! Anytime you plan and host such a huge event there are going to be glitches here and there and, of course, there will be some complaints (or "suggestions" as I like to call them!) but overall I think it went really well. The event started and ended so I think we can count that as a success!! Ha!! One of my favorite parts of Fine Arts is always the closing ceremonies! All the kids are so excited, the coaches are just as excited and secretly wishing they were still kids themselves and all of the judges are excited too! This year the closing ceremonies were held in The Bridge sanctuary and I LOVED it! When I was a kid competing in Fine Arts we always had our closing ceremonies in a church sanctuary and so after Fine Arts being moved to a hotel for so many years it was really cool to have it back in a sanctuary, overflowing with anxious students and alot of energy! It took me back to the "good ol' days", so to speak! Ha! (That makes me sound old...!!!) Anyway, as each winner was announced it was neat to see all the excited students walk up on stage and receive their plaque and have their picture taken. I was only lucky enough for that to happen to me once but I still remember it to this day and I know all of those students were making lifetime memories in that moment as well.
After Fine Arts, when I got home, I thought I would CRASH but I think I had so much adrenaline that I just couldn't make myself go to sleep. I stayed up and read for a bit and then finally dozed off. The next morning I slept in and when I woke up I was so happy to find that my boys and my mother-in-law had made me breakfast in bed!! French toast and bacon!! Mmmmmmm!! I enjoyed my yummy breakfast with a cup of coffee and some HGTV before finally rolling out of bed!!
Thank you to my mother-in-law, Glenda, for helping watch my kids over Fine Arts weekend and for all your help around the house. Also, thank you to my kids for being patient with mommy while she worked hard on Fine Arts. It took up alot of my time and while I loved it I'm happy to be back to just being your mommy once again! And finally, thank you to my husband Brandon for allowing me to take this on. It meant sandwiches for dinner, digging for clean laundry while running late for work and sometimes even putting your own work on hold to help me with the kids but we made it and I'm grateful! I love you all!!
