bbq and board games

I don't know how you celebrate Memorial Day, but this year we did it with BBQ and board games!! Brandon grilled us an AWESOME lunch of chicken, sausage, baked beans and green beans!! Mmmmmm!! I wish we could eat like that every single day. Then we lazed around the entire afternoon swimming, watching TV and playing games. Maddox and I enjoyed a game  or two of Candy Land. He's so competitive and the only time I beat him he tried to convince me that HE in fact was the winner. Ha! Hmmmmm. I think this competitive spirit will both come in handy and bring him some trouble over the years. We also tried to talk to our kids about why we celebrate Memorial Day. We are so very thankful to all the men and women who sacrifice their lives so that we can live in the USA!! It's days like these, enjoying family time, good food and making memories that we should truly think about why we get to live the way we do. Freedom isn't free.
