The boys each chose one item from the craft fair. They weren't sure what they wanted to buy but when we came to the tent where a man was selling hand made wooden toys their decision become much more clear. The wooden toys were all really neat! He had stuff for babies learning fine motor skills all the way up to toy trucks and ferris wheels that bigger kids would like! Both Ash and Maddox each chose a wooden truck. So cool!
After the craft fair, we went for a family swim at the hotel pool and then got ready for Evie's christening. The church the christening was being held in was the same church Uncle Nate and Aunt Dana got married. It's beautiful! We were very honored when we got a call from Uncle Nate a few days before we left for Colorado asking Brandon to take on the roll of Evie's Godfather! Wow! We're not catholic and so we weren't entirely sure what that position entailed but Brandon was beyond excited to step into the roll and it was really neat to see him take part in the christening.
We had never attended a baby's christening before but let me tell you it was ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL!!!! I truly enjoyed it! The priest said some really beautiful things and the process of the Godfather, Godmother and family members present agreeing to be there for Evie as she grows was amazing.
After the baptism the Godmother, who is Aunt Dana's cousin, placed a white cloth over Evie's head and then Brandon helped in a candle lighting ceremony.
The christening, start to finish, only lasted about 20 minutes. I think we may have actually spent more time taking pictures afterward then the christening itself! Ha!
Beautiful Evie! She did so good and slept through the entire ceremony.
Love the bonnet!
After the christening, we were all invited to Uncle Nate and Aunt Dana's house for a backyard picnic! There were tons of backyard games and activities. The boys loved coloring with chalk, playing bean bag toss, hula hooping and playing a little baseball with dad. The food was absolutely delicious too! We had pulled pork sandwiches, baked beans and fresh fruit and veggies from Uncle Nate's garden! The peaches and apricots were SO GOOD!!!!
We ended the picnic with a delicious cake in Evie's honor! Too bad she couldn't enjoy it with us! The cake was vanilla and not only topped with fruit but filled with fruit as well! My mouth is watering as we speak...
Even though we were exhausted from our long Colorado weekend, we couldn't waste our last night in Fort Collins and so we went back downtown and walked around as a family. We wanted to do some gift shop hopping and once we got downtown we were excited to see that there was also a live blues band playing right in the middle of the shops! So cool! I love this town! We walked. Talked. Sipped coffee. (Okay, I sipped coffee!) We just enjoyed our little family in the beautiful town of Fort Collins.
Knowing we had to get all packed up and leave before dawn the next morning to get back to Oklahoma we didn't stay out too late. We have thoroughly enjoyed Colorado though and we have enjoyed our family even more! We especially can't wait to see Evie again as soon as possible.
