germ elementary

Literally, on the second week of school Ashtyn had a sick day. Bummer. He hasn't had as much as a stuffy nose since he got out of school last year and now it only took a matter of days before he had caught something from the good ol' public school. It never fails. It was exactly one week since the first day of school, on a Thursday, when Ash came home from school saying he didn't feel good. I could tell by looking at him that it wasn't going to be good. His cheeks were flushed and he was very lethargic and mopey. He told me that at about lunch time he started feeling bad and then by the middle of the afternoon he was shivering at his desk because he was cold. Not a good sign. I took his temperature right away and sure enough his fever was over 100! I asked him if he told his teacher and he said no. After settling Ash in with some cartoons, giving him some tylenol and a cup of sprite, I told Ash that anytime he feels sick at school (and ESPECIALLY if he feels cold...) to be sure to tell his teacher. Poor buddy. He ended up staying home from school on Friday and used the weekend to recover. I'm definitely not looking forward to all the sickness of the fall and winter seasons...
