"Nature looks dead in winter because her life is gathered into her heart. She withers the plant down to the root that she may grow it up again fairer and stronger. She calls her family together within her inmost home to prepare them for being scattered abroad upon the face of the earth." Hugh Macmillan

just play
The school year is always super crazy! Between Brandon working, myself working, doctor's appointments, school activities, extra-curricular activities, homework, family days, the holidays and the basic day-to-day things like laundry, cleaning and cooking our days are PACKED full and the weeks and months fly by faster then we can even blink! I'm a very organized, detailed and obsessive person about schedules and deadlines, so, most of our days and weeks are extremely scheduled. We have an evening routine that includes playtime, dinner, homework, bath time, story time and bedtime day in and day out. Even though our routine works for us and it gets everything done that needs to be done each day it can also become daunting as the weeks go by. Every now and then, and I do mean every now and then, we simply have to take a break from our strict routine and just PLAY! Last week was one of those days. Sure we had to let the kids stay up a bit later to finish all of their homework and fit in everything we needed to do but it was SO worth it! The boys were relieved to have some backyard playtime with daddy, mommy was happy to not have to rush through the evening and we were all happier when we laid our heads down that evening for simply adding an hour of playtime to our day.
