Every time Grampa Mike goes to the Amazon he brings back a gift for the boys. At first, years ago, the gifts were trinkets, jewelry and stuffed animals...but lately grampa's gifts have gotten a bit too "boyish" for my taste! Ha! Last time Grampa Mike brought back tiny, taxidermied piranhas (yikes!) and this time he brought back a variety of huge and really gross bugs...all of which used to be alive but are now pinned into a shadow box for display. The boys knew Grampa Mike had brought these bugs back for them but they didn't receive them until several weeks after grampa was back on American soil. The wait was excruciating! Ash would ask nearly EVERY...SINGLE...DAY when his bugs were going to arrive and then one day, they FINALLY came!!!! As you can clearly tell, the boys were super excited! Mom was kind of grossed out but I guess the smiles on my boys' faces made up for the icky factor...or at least that's what I'm telling myself...
Almost as exciting as the bugs themselves was the packing material they were shipped in! Thank you Grampa Mike for this afternoon of LOUD fun!
Who knows what Grampa Mike will bring back from the Amazon next time but as of right now our guest room/office is beginning to look like a dead animal and bug show room! Ha!
