"Nature looks dead in winter because her life is gathered into her heart. She withers the plant down to the root that she may grow it up again fairer and stronger. She calls her family together within her inmost home to prepare them for being scattered abroad upon the face of the earth." Hugh Macmillan

asleep in the light
A few weeks ago Ash wasn't feeling well. He had a cough, a small fever and just wasn't acting like himself. I knew he was definitely going to have to miss school the next day when Ash told me he was going to read in bed while I sat in the living room and did homework with Maddox only to find Ash a few minutes later out cold in his bed with the lights ON! I finished Maddox's homework with him and talked to my sister on the phone. I had JUST told Rae that Ash wasn't feeling well and that he had been very quiet for the last 15 minutes or so when I walked down the hall to find Ash sound asleep. Poor boy. All I could do for him at that point was tuck him in a bit, kiss him on the forehead and hope he felt better in the morning.
