"Nature looks dead in winter because her life is gathered into her heart. She withers the plant down to the root that she may grow it up again fairer and stronger. She calls her family together within her inmost home to prepare them for being scattered abroad upon the face of the earth." Hugh Macmillan

bring on the winter
We learned the hard way last year that you have to buy your winter hats and gloves early or you'll never get any! You'll either have freezing ears and fingers (while other moms give you the stink-eye when you take your children out in the snow without any winter gear...) or have to scrounge through the closet and find gloves that are too small and hats that are too tight and just deal with it! We've been down that road and let me tell you it's not fun. There's nothing like forcing a hat on your son's head to the point he is crying tears and forcing him out the door to school telling him he can take it off as soon as he gets there! Ugh. So, this year, we bought the boys new hats and gloves EARLY as is clearly evidenced by the fact that the boys are modeling winter accessories with shorts and t-shirts in these pics! Ha! I guess it was a good thing we did, though, because lately the weather has turned cold and we were glad to have well fitting warmness tucked away for a day just as this!
