christmas out, winter in

I like to change my front door arrangement with the seasons (yes, I'm one of THOSE people) and this year as I was taking the Christmas decorations down and needed something to put up for winter I wanted to do something "different". I've done the traditional "winter" arrangement with icicle looking picks combined with large stick sprays and I've tried the cliche winter greeting but this year I wanted to be more creative. Since I'm not a very patient person and I knew I didn't have time to run to the store I went straight to my garage, where I keep a variety of craft and decoration items, and began thinking. Finally, I decided to try and turn an old Christmas wreathe that I don't use anymore into something crafty that could hang on my front door for winter! Here goes!

Here is what my shiny Christmas wreathe looked like when I started...

I picked out four different patterns of fabric (all in the blue and white color family) and tore them into long strips. Then I simply began wrapping the fabric strips at random around the wreathe and tying them in the back...

After my wreathe was completely covered I used some of the heavier, more substantial, fabric to make a bow on the side!

Not bad if I do say so myself! It is crafty! It is free! It is recycled! It is ME!!!! What more can ya ask for!?
