"Nature looks dead in winter because her life is gathered into her heart. She withers the plant down to the root that she may grow it up again fairer and stronger. She calls her family together within her inmost home to prepare them for being scattered abroad upon the face of the earth." Hugh Macmillan

duck...duck...GOOSE
We absolutely LOVE playing at Seth's house! Seth is not only the big brother Ash will never have but he's also his best friend! Sure, Seth is 4 years older (and someday that will feel like a much bigger deal) but they still have so much fun together! Seth is still enough of a "boy" to have fun with an 8 and 6 year old and my kids wouldn't have it any other way! Unfortunately, if you're a mom of boys (or even know someone who is the mom of boys...) than you are beyond aware of what all can go down when boys play together. Amidst the wrestling, running, yelling, dancing, name calling, throwing, flipping, acrobatics, athletics and anything else you can imagine (I always say, if a girl never even thought of doing something a boy has already done it 100 times!) then accidents are bound to happen. These days when I hear a loud thud or hear crying I'm just happy when I make it to my child and see that there's no blood! If we don't have to make a trip to the emergency room it was a successful play date! Recently, while the boys were playing and Jill and I were talking in the kitchen we heard one of those ever dreaded and far too familiar THUDS! I didn't have to run far to see what had happened because Ash was on his way to me. Even in the time it had taken us to reach each other Ash was growing a goose egg on his forehead! He recovered quickly but did have a headache a few hours later. In true boy fashion, he was excited to go to school the next day because he was going to tell everyone he was "wrestling a junior higher" when he got hurt. (Even though he actually ran into a door frame...) Unfortunately, none of his friends noticed his goose egg the next day and Ash was very disappointed. It's the first thing he said when he got in the car after school! Only boys!
