This year, in school, Ash was assigned a science project! He couldn't have been more excited! This is right up his alley and then some! Of course, Ash wanted to do a solar system project and I was totally on board. We got right to work the very day Ash brought home the assignment. We laid out styrofoam balls that matched the sizes of the planets and then chose colors to paint them. Ash painted most of them himself but mom did help a little bit! I secretly enjoyed every paint stroke! I always loved doing science projects when I was in school too. After every planet was painted we laid them out on a towel on the kitchen counter to dry for a couple of days until we needed to put it together and practice his presentation. The night before his project was due Ash and I assembled his solar system and looked up some interesting solar-system-facts that he could share with his class. He was so excited that I would say he was almost giddy! Ash was very disappointed the next day when they ran out of time in the school day and he didn't get to share his presentation but the day after that he WAS able to present his solar system and he did great! I'm so proud of him and his brains that simply refuse to stop soaking up the world around him!
"Nature looks dead in winter because her life is gathered into her heart. She withers the plant down to the root that she may grow it up again fairer and stronger. She calls her family together within her inmost home to prepare them for being scattered abroad upon the face of the earth." Hugh Macmillan
