musical stories

Our library hosts some UH-MAZING children's events during the summer. And it's a bonus that they are all FREE! We have gone to every single class and show that our summer schedule has allowed. One of our favorites was the Musical Stories show. Four members of the Oklahoma City Philharmonic set up a mini orchestra in the library's conference room and they brought with them their director who stood with the orchestra and read children's stories while the mini orchestra played original music that went along with the book. It was wonderful! The music was so calming and the woman reading the stories was great with kids. All of the kids in attendance seemed to have a great time but even better than that was the fact that both of my boys enjoyed themselves...even Maddox! I thought for sure I'd catch him dozing off but he was totally into it! One of the best moments of the afternoon was when the orchestra played portions of well known classical pieces of music and asked the kids if they knew who had composed them. After one particular piece of music the lead orchestra member asked the kids who the composer was and a little girl in the crowd yelled "Little Einsteins!" Ha! Clearly she watches Disney Junior in the mornings!
