Camp Cousin 09...Slow But Steady

Today was probably the "slowest" day on our Camp Cousin 2009 calendar and it was made even slower by some bad weather. This morning, we got up and around and Aunt Rae took the kids to the donut shop to pick up breakfast! YUM! Then we packed up the car and headed to the duck pond! Most kids (and even most adults) are cautious when going to feed the geese and ducks. Mostly around the geese, though, because they tend to hiss and fight over the bread and sometimes even try and bite you...but Maddox got out of his car seat and made a bee line for the flock of geese resting in the grass! We had to call him back and he personally lead the geese to the food...

Oh! And while we were feeding the geese and ducks we saw this weird duck/turkey looking bird. Anyone have an idea what it might be??? Hmmm...

After feeding the ducks, we were supposed to spend some time at the park by the duck ponds but unfortunately about half way through our duck feeding the rain started. We quickly threw the rest of our bread on the ground and loaded back in to the van. Instead of playing at the park, we headed to Burger King for an early lunch and to play on the Burger King playland. We didn't know ahead of time, unfortunately, that the area of Burger King where the playland is isn't air conditioned and so we spent as long as we could there (about 45 minutes) and then went to Red Box to rent some movies for our drive to Enid. Today's Camp Cousin was sort of random but we just tried to work around the rain and keep the kids entertained!
Finally, it was time to head downtown to see the Poncan Theater free children's movie! This week was Madagascar 2! We arrived a bit early, got our popcorn and sodas and settled in.

After already sitting in the movie theater for about 40 minutes (because we arrived so early) before the movie actually started, the kids (well...Maddox and Elia) were already a bit restless when the flick began. Ash could have sat through the whole movie but Maddox fell asleep after only 15 minutes and then about 40 minutes in Elia was telling her mommy she was bored. I asked Ash if he minded heading on to Great Grandma's a bit early and he agreed. Funny thing was, when I carried Maddox out of the theater he lifted his head off my shoulder and said "I want to watch the movie..." HA!
When we exited the theater, the sky was VERY dark and the weather didn't look good at all. We quickly got in the van and began our journey to Enid to spend the night with Great Grandma. We hit some heavy heavy rain along the way but we eventually pulled in to town and met Grandma at the mall. We let the kids ride some rides and buy some cheap goodies in the arcade. Oh the simple things in life...

We had plans to go OUT to eat pizza after the mall, but after a full second day with no naps (and after my boys had woken up at 6:50 this morning) all it took was an attempt at sale shopping in JC Penney's to tell us that we needed to get pizza to go and take it back to Great Grandma's house! So...Little Caesars it was. After dinner, the kids took quick showers and then settled in for movies and story time.

It is now 8:40PM...ALL the kids are asleep...Rae has just left to get us grown-ups a treat from Sonic and when she gets back we are going to gather round the dining room table for some good ol' fashion card playing and maybe some dominos! Tomorrow we pick up the pace a bit and Camp Cousin gets crazy! Hope to see you then!

Just call Maddox the "Goose Whisperer".

My curiosity will cause me to investigate the "Incredible Goose/Duck". It actually looks like he's transforming into some sort of X-Bird or Super-Duck!

Ashtyn is such a team-player. I just hear him say "yea, sure" when asked if y'all could leave. BUT Maddox sounds like his Grampa Mike ... he will wake up instantly when the TV is turned off!!!!!

I think Elia would sit there beside GreatGrammaAnna for hours if she could. Such a sweet relationship they have!

Keep having a great week,
