bling the backyard

It may not have been the most responsible decision we could have (or should have) made but when our tax return came in this year instead of putting that extra money toward something practical and mature we decided to bling our backyard! Well, sorta. We've been wanting to finish privacy fencing the yard so we did and we really needed a shed to store our lawn equipment in so we got that too. Then with what was left over we bought the boys a couple of new backyard toys and I splurged and spoiled myself with a hamic! I've always wanted one! Unfortunately, someone else in this family also loves the hamic (as you can see...) so I'm not sure how much time I'll get to spend in it! Ha! I have already laid in it a couple of times and even read a magazine in it one afternoon! It really was so relaxing!

The new goodies we bought for the boys are a new swingset, a playhouse and this super cool pirate ship themed sandbox!! We've had a swingset for years but the old one has been moved several times and had also been VERY well used. The poor thing was very rickety...so Brandon finished putting together the new one last night and I'm proud to say that I put together both the playhouse and sandbox ALL BY MYSELF today!!!! That's right!!!! I am quite proud of myself!! Very tired...but very proud!! Now I just have to clean up all the boxes and packaging scattered all over the yard but for now I'm sitting inside waiting on Brandon to bring home Pei Wei for dinner. Who knows if I'll clean it all up tonight but it'll get it done and, besides, I wanna enjoy a job well done by sitting on the sofa!

In the end, I'm really glad that we got this new play equipment for the yard. Being home with two energetic boys all day the more we have to do outside the better! Outside playtime means worn out boys and worn out boys mean a good nights sleep! Hallelujah! Now all that's missing is the lazy days of summer! Bring it on!
