"Nature looks dead in winter because her life is gathered into her heart. She withers the plant down to the root that she may grow it up again fairer and stronger. She calls her family together within her inmost home to prepare them for being scattered abroad upon the face of the earth." Hugh Macmillan

pint sized prayer
Yesterday, Maddox wore his Pray4Gray shirt to school. No big deal, right!? I mean, both my boys wear their shirts quite often so I had no idea how different this day inparticular would be. When Maddox came home yesterday afternoon he had quite the story to tell. He told me that he had asked one of his best friends, in his class, if he knew what his shirt was. The friend, of course, said no and as Maddox informed me that this poor little boy didn't know what Pray4Gray meant he said it as if EVERYONE knows (or should know) who Gray is and what we're doing with Pray4Gray. It was almost as if Maddox was rolling his eyes and saying "Huh!? How could you not know!???" Anyway, after we got past the "attitude" part of these pre-kindergarteners conversation Maddox then went on to tell me that after discovering that there was someone who didn't know about Grayson he decided to tell him! Seriously! My 4-year-old was telling his friends to pray for Grayson! I got chills and my heart melted all at the same time! I was nearly speechless! Maddox told his friend who Gray is and that we pray for him because he's sick. He also told him that his shirt says "Pray4Gray". I know it was in mini person language but I am so proud of my little Maddox. He truly has a tender heart underneath that tough exterior of his. He is doing his part to spread word of Grayson and his fight against cancer. I just can't get over how proud I am!
