GREAT road trip!!

My parents drove to Oklahoma (from Connecticut) for a summer visit!! During their visit we have gone to Dallas for a family reunion and they will stay through the 4th of July, but in between those two events mom and dad (who are also babysitting my niece Elia while her parents are on a missions trip) were visiting us in Mustang! For a few of those days we decided to take a two night trip to Enid to visit Great Gramma Anna! We all loaded up into Grampa Mike's truck (6 of us PLUS a dog!) and headed to Enid!!

On our first morning at Great Gramma's, after spending the night, the kids had a bit of playtime in the backyard...and, yes, they were still in their PJ's!! It has been SO very hot here in Oklahoma that if you don't get outside first thing in the morning you really don't get out at all...

During their playtime, our resident fashionista, Elia Rae, created a new purse trend out of the dog leash and an oversized (and very heavy actually) birdhouse that she found in Great Gramma's backyard!! She's strutting her stuff!!

That morning we went to the mall for some shopping, and just to get out of the house and go somewhere cool on such a hot summer day, and on the way there we saw something that was quite funny! As we drove, we came upon an elderly lady who was truckin' along down the local road on her motorized wheelchair complete with rear view mirrors and all!!!! Ha!! She didin't mind at all that traffic was having to slow to a near stop and take turns going around her and she was simply minding her own business and going about her day!! As we passed her my dad joked that "well, she pays taxes on this road too...!" He's right!!

At the mall, Grampa Mike treated the kids to a visit to the candy store and they each came out with their very own BAG of candy!! We also walked from store to store checking out sales. Of course, Maddox found another Star Wars tee to add to his collection and the kids rode the summer train in the middle of the mall!!

That evening, as I was getting my boys ready for bed, I walked past the back sliding door of my Gramma's house and saw Elia and Great Gramma sitting out on the patio having a lengthy conversation about who knows what! It was so sweet and so cute! I was able to get a short video clip of them talking before they noticed me at the window. There's no sound because I was filming through the glass doors but the sight of them talking was just too cute to pass up!

On our second morning, Great Gramma prepared her famous biscuits and chocolate gravy!! Mmmm!! As I sat down to my breakfast, I knew that "diet" is definitely a four letter word when you enter Gramma's house!! Ha!! While we were visiting Gramma made biscuits and chocolate gravy, biscuits and sausage gravy, burgers and homemade french fries, fresh strawberries and pound cake, fried chicken and pasta salad and on and on!! I mean, who could diet during a weekend like that!?!?

The kids love visiting Great Gramma, but as you can imagine, when you're 4, 5 and 7 it's very hard to be away from all your own toys and movies, etc. So, Gramma Pennie saved the day and handed out each of the kids a new notebook, coloring book and colored pencils!! Go Gramma!!

There's truly nothing sweeter then seeing Great Gramma reading to her Great Grandchildren...

On our last night at Great Gramma's house, we had a little fun with shower time!! It's always funny to see kids with towels wrapped around their wet heads!! They thought it was hilarious!!

I'm not crazy...I'm just CLEAN!!!!

We don't get to visit Great Gramma nearly often enough. I know she's only two hours away but life with two little boys and a husband with a time consuming job is so crazy that it's hard to make alot of visits. Hopefully, though, we'll be able to visit again sometime this summer before school starts and it gets even crazier around here!
