"Read it again Ucka!"

In between our visit to Dallas and our 4th of July plans, my mom and I took some time to visit Gray in the hospital. He was admitted this time for his first round of  proton therapy. This is a treatment that he will recieve every few weeks for the next six months. When we arrived, Gray was asleep but he soon woke up. He is very swollen (as you can see in his face) and pretty cranky but he is still the sweetheart we know and love! I read to him and read to him and read to him all evening, I'm pretty sure we read EVERY book in his bag, and in the meantime the nursing staff came in and out of the room checking Gray's vitals and changing his IV drip about every half hour. Gray has played such a large part in all of the life and personal lessons I have learned during the past year and each and every day he continues to inspire me and prove to me that even when life doesn't seem fair and when you think things just can't get any worse there is still room for a smile and a laugh. Gray makes ME laugh too! On this visit, Gray was showing off his new "glasses". These really aren't HIS glasses. They are actually little round decorative craft glasses that you might put on a doll or teddy bear but Gray calls them "his" and wears them when he's playing or reading. He's so cute! I think I would laugh every time he'd say "I want my glasses...!" (Even though he'd only scowl at me once he got them on!) We stayed at the hospital for several hours and when we left I had to tear myself away. I got a little kiss, though, from the man of the hour and I knew that soon enough he would be out of the hospital and back home. We are praying every day as Gray continues this rough treatment. It puts Gray in alot of pain and he is forced to stay medicated on morphine throughout each treatment which makes him irritable and sleepy. Also, Gray has lost alot of weight because he is not eating. All your prayers are appreciated. Prayer is truly the most impactful thing we can do for this special little boy.
