camp cousin 2013 day four

Camp Cousin Day #4!!!! The fun is flying by!!!! Today we drove to Mustang, ate lunch at Chick-fil-A (a crowd favorite!) and then went bowling. Who doesn't love bowling!? We usually bowl at least two games when we take the kids but this year we had James and Noah in tow. That changed thing a bit...okay a lot! Ha! James just sat wherever his mommy put him but he was getting a bit bored and Noah is at the age where he is constantly moving and, let me tell ya, he may be small but he moves FAST!! I was following him around the bowling alley for a bit and he suddenly took off running! By the time I caught him he had run behind the counter of the concession stand and INTO THE ACTUAL KITCHEN!!!! NO JOKE!!!! I had to go into the kitchen to get him. Oh good grief!!!! The bowling alley workers just laughed at us...and I'm pretty sure Noah was laughing at me too...

After what turned out to be a pretty quick game of bowling we headed to our house for some backyard water games and a dinner cook out!

While the kids swam in the pool, us grown-ups filled 100 water balloons. It takes WAY too long to fill up 100 balloons compared to the amount of time it takes the kids to bust them all...

I think they're ready!!!!

The kids may have started the fight but eventually we were all involved! At one point, I may or may not have brought out the hose once I was being attacked too! Ha! It was most definitely an afternoon to remember!

We had prepared a couple of other summer, backyard activities for the kids to pull out throughout the afternoon to keep them busy and entertained. Earlier in the week I had frozen some plastic toy bugs into giant blocks of ice. We brought them onto the back deck and armed each of the kids with some tools to "excavate" their bugs. It was even more fun than I thought it would be!

When it was time to grill dinner Brandon just HAD to put on his favorite pants. Needless to say they are NOT my favorites! Ha!

The last craft we had for the kids was allowing them to use rolls and rolls of foil to make boats to float in the pool! They took their creativity to the next level when they put their excavated bugs into their boats!

After Elia made boats for her bugs she continued with the foil theme and made a bed for each of her bugs too. Throughout the rest of the camp cousin week she begged us to let her "teach a class" to all of us about how to make our "very own beds" for our bugs too! How cute! We weren't able to get everyone to sit for this class but eventually her mommy and aunties did sit down armed with our own pieces of foil and let Elia conduct her "bed bug" workshop! It was very sweet!

No summertime barbecue is complete without a dessert of s'mores. Ash cracks me up because he won't actually eat s'mores but he loves to make them. So he ends up cooking s'mores for all of the grown ups, which is very nice of him, but he tends to think we should eat many, many s'mores EACH!!!! He never wants to stop cooking! Ha!

Halfway through Camp Cousin 2013. We're definitely starting to feel the "burn" but there's a lot more to do so we better get a good nights sleep so we can hit the ground running again tomorrow!
