camp cousin 2013 day six

Camp Cousin Day #6!!!! This is technically the last day of camp cousin. Day seven is always reserved for daddies to watch the kids while the mommies go out and do something fun! The kids all sported their camp cousin tees for the day! Cutest kids I've ever seen if I do say so myself!

We planned a scavenger hunt for today but like yesterday there was a high chance of severe weather so we got an early start so we could be home before the storms hit. Sometimes you have to be flexible to have fun! Our citywide scavenger hunt was a ton of fun! The kids took turns reading the clues which led us to different locations all around Mustang. The first clue took us to a local park...

When we arrived at the hunt location the kids could open their clue and inside was a task they had to complete before they could receive their next clue. Their first task was to go down the slide!

Our second clue led us to a war memorial where an Air Force plane is displayed. Here the kids had to do jumping jacks.

I wasn't able to get pictures at all of the locations but after the war memorial, scavenger hunt clues led us to the Dollar Tree where the kids each bought an outside toy and then to Lowe's where the kids had to run laps around the van. Our fifth location was Cotton Eyed Joes where everyone chose a snow cone! Yum! While eating we opened clue number six.

This clue led us to the boys' friend Seth's backyard where the kids had to sing a song before receiving their next clue!

After singing together the kids were led to the boys' school where they had to go on the playground and go across the monkey bars and then finally the hunt clues led us home where we had to go around the block! By this point, the kids were so excited to get the hunt finished so they could see what their prize at the end was that I don't think we've ever gone around the block quite that fast!

When we got back to the house, Aunt Kiki was waiting on the front porch armed with some trivia questions the kids had to answer before receiving their prize!

Once everyone had answered three questions correctly they received their Camp Cousin medal!!!! Gramma Pennie had sent these medals and the kids were PUMPED when they received them! You would've thought we had given them money as a prize! Ha! In fact, these medals are still hanging in both of my boys' rooms!

Even James got a medal!

While the storms rolled in outside we came up with some off the cuff inside stuff to do to keep the kids entertained. Growing up in the early 90's we taught the kids how to make paper fortune tellers! Passing on traditions to the next generation! It was a lot of fun to make these with the kids and hilarious to hear what they wanted us to write on the inside. All of Ashtyn's "fortunes" were compliments about how "nice" you are and "cool" someone is. Maddox on the other hand wrote things about "smelling" and "boogers"...

I can't believe Camp Cousin 2013 has already come to an end. My mom and grandma weren't lying when the said the older you get the faster time goes. It almost scares me how fast each year goes as I get older and as my kids grow up. I wish I could pause time and live in special moments whenever I want. Since I haven't figured out how to do that yet I guess I'll just keep blogging and then looking back at old posts years later crying and smiling and laughing over all of the memories we have made.
