togetherness

A few weeks ago, my brother-in-law and sister-in-law from Colorado traveled to Ponca City for a visit and so we joined everyone in Ponca City for a mini Knight family reunion weekend. We all stayed at Tyler and April's house crashing on air mattresses. Cramming a ton of family into one house on air mattresses and sofas is how I grew up visiting my family so it always feel most comfortable and exciting for me to have visits that way. It takes me back!

While I love that my boys are getting older in some ways (besides how fast it's going of course...) it is also nice to be around babies and toddlers from time to time and get to do all of those "mommy" things that I miss from when my boys were younger. My niece Natalie was more than willing to let me feed her pretty much as often as I wanted to! She would sit on my lap and eat away! She's such a cutie.

The theme continues. Maddox is GREAT with babies! Cousin Natalie LOVES Maddox. They seem to have a special connection. One afternoon as we were getting ready to go to the pool Natalie just marched up and sat right on Maddox's lap to watch cartoons! It was hilarious! Maddox didn't seem to mind, though. He just let her settle in and they watched TV together.

Auntie April's parents recently put in an amazing pool! They already had an outdoor living room, per say, complete with a bar, outdoor kitchen, fireplace, sitting area, dining table AND a TV! It's crazy awesome! Now, not only do they have an incredible patio, but they have a pool and pool house to match! Thankfully during our visit to Ponca City the pool was open and ready for swimmers.

We tried to get a picture with Natalie...but she wasn't so happy about standing still long enough! Ha!

Cousin Evie loved the water spouts bubbling up in the shallow end of the pool. She is so cute and such a happy girl! I loved watching her explore the water.

After some good hard swimming, Natalie found her lounge chair, her binky and some snacks and took it easy. This girl knows how to spend time at the pool!

While we were in Ponca City my boys went over to Aunt Rae and Uncle Casey's house for a bit to play with their other cousins, Elia and Noah. Maddox had had this loose tooth for what felt like FOREVER and I kept begging him, bribing him, pleading with him to let me pull it but he wouldn't let me do it. Well...at Aunt Rae's house Maddox took one bite of a FRENCH FRY (of all things...) and out popped his tooth! Simple as that! Aunt Rae sent me a picture right away and Maddox couldn't wait to see how much money the tooth fairy would bring him when he was sleeping at Auntie April's house!

What!? The tooth fairy was extra generous and left Maddox $2.00!!!!

I know, I know. My boys are getting way too old to be taking pictures of them in the bathtub or shower but I just couldn't resist. Since there was a towel covering him anyway I just HAD to capture the cuteness of all of the soapy hand prints Maddox was leaving on the shower doors! He was just in the shower, singing away, and leaving his tiny prints all over. I'm sure only a mommy can find her own kids hand prints SO cute but this mama does for sure!

Towards the end of our visit we celebrated cousin Evie's birthday. She had turned one earlier in the month but as she lives in Colorado none of us were able to be there. The boys helped Aunt Dana bake Evie a cake earlier that afternoon and then we gathered around to watch Evie open presents while we feasted on yummy cake!

Before heading home we took the opportunity to have an impromptu photo shoot with Noni and all the grandkids in the front yard. I sure do have a beautiful family. I am so blessed!

Natalie was amazed that she could see the moon while the sun was still out.

It's not very often that we get to have all of Brandon's family together so every opportunity is special. Even if we're just hanging out, cooking family meals, going to garage sales and watching TV it's nice to be together.
