Lego to Lego Land

I can't believe it's already our fourth day in Orlando! The time is going way too fast but we are having SO much fun! Today we went to Lego Land! I think Maddox was the most excited about the Lego Land park. He's obsessed with Legos and he knew there was a Star Wars attraction AND a new Chima World so he was literally jumping up and down with anticipation! I love seeing my kids get so excited! We arrived at Lego Land just as it was opening and it was a good thing because it was HOT today! Heat or no heat, though, we were ready to hit the ground running!

There were several Lego characters and giant Lego creations as you entered the park. I'm pretty sure we took a picture with every single one.

Can you believe these are built entirely out of Legos? I knew to expect this sort of thing but to see such lifesized structures made out of Legos, in person, was still unreal!

First things first, we rode the Lego carousel. It may not have been the most "thrilling" ride of the day but it was still fun! And it was really neat for the kids to ride horses that actually look like the Lego horses they have in miniature at home.

We finally got to one of the areas the boys were most excited to see...Lego Mini Land!!!! In this attraction, they have literally recreated cityscapes and landmarks from around the world in mini version and totally and completely out of Legos!!!! Some of them even have moving parts and shoot water when you push a button located near the edge of the scene. It...was...AWESOME!!!! I was in awe! We probably could have taken hours to stroll along these paths but we moved pretty quickly, taking a ton of pictures. The boys were eager to see everything and also couldn't wait to get to some rides.

Ger ready to be bombarded with about a million pictures of Maddox standing in front of every single Star Wars scene they had in Lego Mini Land. As we walked the paths he would literally pose in front of each one, smile and say "Mom, take my picture with this one too!" over and over and over. We left no Star Wars scene unturned...believe me...

The life sized Lego Star Wars characters were amazing!

I love that Maddox gets intense when he's posing with a "bad guy" character. He takes his Star Wars  very seriously.

We finally made it to the roller coasters and rides within Lego Land. The first coaster we rode was dinosaur themed and had a giant Lego dinosaur outside the entrance. Each life sized Lego statue had a sign next to it that told how many Legos were used, how many people worked on the structure and how many hours it took to build. It was unreal! (And I secretly thought it sounded fun too...!!!)

Maddox and Seth rode a flying pedal car ride!

There was a really cool portion of the Lego Land park where kids could sit through a driver's license class, have their driver's license pictures taken and then actually practice their driving skills on a special Lego themed track in Lego cars! I only wished I was a kid so that I could have done it...unfortunately, I no longer pass for 12 and under.

The boys did awesome driving their cars! Their driving skills fit each of their personalities perfectly and I wasn't surprised one bit at how they did. Maddox ran into a couple of other cars, nearly rode right up onto the sidewalk, drove the wrong way down the road and ran almost every red light he came to! Ash, on the other hand, was extremely cautious and I couldn't help but laugh when he would literally STOP his car wherever he was on the road when he saw a red light ahead. I mean, AS SOON AS that light turned red Ash would stop his car. He wouldn't pull forward to the line or pull up to the car in front of him, he would just STOP! Ha! I think we have some work ahead of us before either of our kids get their real drivers license...

We rode four roller coasters, sat in a 3D theater for a short movie, learned to drive Lego cars and took a million pictures but we saved the best for last...The World of Lego Chima!!!! The boys were PUMPED!!!! The World of Lego Chima is based on a new Lego cartoon and Lego Land has opened an entire land dedicated to these characters!

The crown jewel of The World of Lego Chima is the water ride! I'm glad we saved this for last because we got SOAKED! Thankfully we watched the boats before us as we stood in line and saw which side of the boat got the worst of the water and made the boys sit on that side but it really didn't matter where you sat...you were going to be soaked to the bone! I can't lie...it was AWESOME!

Throughout the Lego Chima boat ride you each sat behind your own water gun that you could shoot freely at a variety of Lego Chima "bad guys" or even at people waiting in line for the ride! We got the most wet when we passed under a giant waterfall and there was nowhere to hide! Like it or not, the water was going to get ya! Towards the end of the ride you passed the sidewalk where those who had just exited the ride ahead of you could stand with water guns and soak you one last time as you floated by! There was one woman in particular who was OUT FOR BLOOD and she got us good!

We left The World of Lego Chima soaking wet but thankful to be cooled off a bit from the Orlando heat. This was our last ride of the day so we visited the gift shop and then headed back to our condo.

As the boys were getting ready for bed and Maddox was brushing his teeth I suddenly heard him yell from down the hall "Mom! My tooth just fell out!" Sure enough, he had lost his other front tooth! Hopefully the tooth fairy will find us in Orlando...

Thankfully, the tooth fairy found our condo and left Maddox some extra souvenir money under his pillow! Our day at Lego Land was complete, one less tooth and all! To this day, Maddox says Lego Land was his favorite thing we did in Orlando. As an adult visiting all the parks, Lego Land definitely didn't meet the same level of customer service or organization as Disney World. It was closer to the experience you might have at Frontier City with high school students running the rides and far less air conditioned areas to escape the heat...BUT it was still really cool and to hear Maddox talk about it you would have thought we visited another planet! That makes it all worth it! This was a day he'll never forget!
