creative play

Growing up in a world of on demand TV, video games, ipads and portable DVD players it's hard to get your kids to play with their toys. Both my boys are creative and they love to play dress up, go outside and play with their action figures...BUT we still fight the battle of how much technology is too much in a single day. We do better some days than others. I mean, if I have days I just want to watch movies and play Solitaire on my phone then I guess they can have those days too. Most days, though, I encourage my kids to just PLAY! No cartoons, no XBox, no Wii...just good old fashion play! Some days they fight me. Some days they whine. Some days they throw a tantrum and tell me it's not fair. But in the long run it's good for them and once they get started they have fun. And I'm happy knowing my boys are getting to know each other and are able to play with each other in creative ways.
