After an afternoon napping and swimming, we grilled out skewers filled with chicken, steak and shrimp and, of course, tons of veggies followed by grilled fruit and ice cream sundaes!! Then it was time for a movie under the stars!! Brandon set up a make-shift movie screen in the backyard and we all gathered round to see the show!! We had to wait until it was nearly dark outside to start the movie so it was sort of late but once we got started it was so exciting!! By the time we came in that night some of us had been gobbled up with bug bites but it was fun to make that memory with the kids!! How cool to watch a movie in your own backyard!!
"Nature looks dead in winter because her life is gathered into her heart. She withers the plant down to the root that she may grow it up again fairer and stronger. She calls her family together within her inmost home to prepare them for being scattered abroad upon the face of the earth." Hugh Macmillan

finally...some AC
Camp Cousin 2010 is over halfway over! What!?!? It has gone by so fast but we are having SO much fun!! Today we visited the Omniplex in OKC (finally an activity that has air conditioning...!!!) and we were excited to play and see the Science Live Show!!

We also ran into Otto, the Omniplex robot mascot!!
The kids ALWAYS want to do gymnastics first thing, so we headed upstairs! Both my boys love doing gymnastics but I think Maddox mostly loves it simply because it involves jumping, rolling, running and basically any energetic thing he can think of...Ash on the other hand has a deeper appreciation for gymnastics!! He stood, on this visit, and watched nearly the entire olympic gymnastics demonstration on the TV screen and then tried to copy what he had seen! When he saw the men gymnasts doing the rings and pomel horse his jaw dropped to the floor and he exclaimed "OH MY! I want to do that!" Uh Oh! I think I see some gymnastics classes in our future! He's following in his daddy's footsteps!

Then it was on to exploring some science experiments...

Ashtyn really loved working with this new exhibit, the robotic hand! He stood here working hard and trying over and over to make the hand pick up one of the plastic balls...
and his determination payed off!! Ash is gonna be great at science!! I think science camp is in someone's future!!

After lunch at the Omniplex, we saw the Science Live Show which takes place in a theater style room and a scientist, on stage, teaches kids about blowing things up!! Not only do you learn the science behind explosions but you also get to see live demonstrations of explosions and they even bring volunteers onto stage to help out with some of them!! Neither of my kids wanted to be chosen (I think they were too shy!) but we still had a ton of fun in the show!! Sorry there's no pics of that...no photography allowed. Bummer.
