cookie mama

I love to bake!! I love to bake during the holidays even more!! Sometimes I bake to relax, by myself, in a quiet house...and sometimes I bake WITH MY KIDS!! Ha!! Don't get me wrong, I love to bake with my boys but it's just not as calming or relaxing as doing it in the kitchen all by myself. It takes five times as long and we have to keep a careful balance of making sure everything is done fairly (i.e. if Ash gets to stir then Maddox gets to stir and if Ash gets to spoon five cookies onto the cookie sheet then Maddox gets to do the same amount...you get the idea...) but it is very sweet to be with both my boys in the kitchen and we definitely make alot of memories while we cook together. Both my boys really enjoy helping out in the kitchen but Maddox has taken a particular interest in it the last year or so. He'll help me bake something special or just simply cook dinner with me. He often tells me that he's going to be a "cooker" when he grows up! Ha! Today, though, both my boys were helping me and we were making Christmas rice-krispie treats and chocolate chip cookies!! Mmmmmm!! Oh and we used our very special Christmas kitchen utensils too!!

I know, I know...both boys are in their underwear! I hear it every time I post pictures of my boys but hey, what can I say, they're boys and so stay in their underwear as much and as often as possible and, let's be honest, if we could all bake in our underwear and it be socially acceptable...wouldn't we!?!? Haha!! Anyway, Maddox enjoyed watching the microwave for me and, of course, pushing the buttons to turn it on too. (You gotta love that little tushy...!!!)

I couldn't convince Ash to taste the cookie dough before we put it in the oven but Maddox was all over it. Like mother, like son!! Ha!!

Our rice-krispies and cookies turned out AWESOME!! It really doesn't get any better then family and sweet treats!!
