Last weekend, while my parents were in Oklahoma, we all packed up and headed to Great Gramma Anna's house for the night. We don't visit Great Gramma Anna nearly enough and during the school year it's even harder to visit so we do our best to get in at least a few visits during the summer. It's always fun!! There may not be tons of toys or ANY video games at Great Gramma's house but there's just something about being there that's nostalgic and comforting...even for the kids.
Of course, Great Gramma made us her famous "big breakfast" of biscuits and gravy (and chocolate gravy too!!). We were pumped!! This is a treat we usually only get at the holidays so it was definitely exciting!!
Over the weekend, we just hung out, played cards and visited. The kids got creative with their free time and at one point I caught Ashtyn talking gibberish into an old fan in Great Gramma's living room!! Ha!! It's the little things you see kids doing that makes you think of your own childhood. I laughed to myself watching Ash make all sorts of nonsense sounds and singing noises into the fan's blades. It was really cute!! Innocent discovery at its finest.
We always love visiting Great Gramma. Like I said, it's very nostalgic and almost feels as if time is standing still. Plus, Great Gramma is a never ending well of funny stories and information about our dad growing up!! Ha!! Who wouldn't love that!?
