Last week we were MORE THEN HONORED to receive some hand-me-down toys from Gray. Gray passed almost three months ago and when Jill called and said she had gone through some of Gray's toys and had made a "pile" for the boys to look through I was thinking maybe there would be a few items...but Jill's definition of pile and mine are obviously way different! Ha! When we got to Jill's house there wasn't just a pile...there were probably more toys piled up for my boys to take home then I think they received for Christmas last year! No kidding! Some of the toys Jill decided to pass onto my boys were little action figures, books and movies...but some of them were toys that truly hold sentimental value and drudge of specific memories of Gray. I don't even know how many times I asked Jill "if she was sure" she wanted to pass these on but she felt that Gray would want the boys to have fun with them. We loaded up the entire back of the van and took all of our "new" toys home. Before I put these new toys into the boys room I went through and marked the most memory filled toys with a permanent "G" in black marker on them so we'll forever remember what Gray passed on to us. We never want to forget.
Gray received this crane as a gift and wanted it because of the crane that was always working outside the window of Children's Hospital. He would stop and look at it during every visit.
The boys have been having a blast with all their inherited toys. One toy in particular brings alot of laughter to our home. This dinosaur's name is "Bob". Gray named him and loved playing with him. There's something funny about Bob though...he tends to have a mind of his own. He's remote controlled but once you play with Bob he for some reason doesn't want to be turned off and tends to continue moving and glowing and growling even after you've put down the remote and walked away. Kinda freaky! Gray always thought this was hilarious but Bob kind of scares the rest of us! Ha! It was neat watching my boys "enjoy" Bob and, yes, get a little freaked out by him too!
Thank you Jill and thank yo Gray for all of the new fun you've passed onto us. Gray is never far from our minds or hearts and now he's right in the boys toy box too!
