royal rangers + dodge ball = black eye

I never ever EVER thought in a million years that I would be posting this about Ash. To be honest, I knew the day would come that I'd have to post about one of our boys getting a black eye, I just never imagined that it would be Ash! Ha! I thought for sure it would be Maddox! But nope. This last Wednesday night, when I picked up Ashtyn from Royal Rangers he said that he had hurt his eye. I took a quick look at his eye, through his glasses, and didn't see much so we just hurried home. When Ash got out of the shower, though, later that night I could see that his eye was much worse then I originally thought. I could tell underneath his eye where he had obviously been hit and wondered, at that point, if he would wake up with a black eye. I asked Ash what had happened and he said that during dodge ball he was hit in the eye with a ball and it smashed his glasses into his face. Poor guy. He said he cried but he was obviously pretty tough because they didn't call me out of service. I guess we'll just send Ash to bed and see what his eye looks like in the morning...

The next morning Ash woke up with quite the manly shiner! I think he would have been a bit more upset about it if both Maddox and Brandon hadn't thought it was so cool! We took a picture and texted it to everyone we know! Ha! All of Ashtyn's aunt and uncles, grammas and grampas, thought his black eye made him a tough guy and all of their comments made Ash feel really good. After school that day, Ash said that no one had asked him about his eye but that he had made sure to show it to all of his friends! I guess Maddox has some "black-eye-getting" to do to keep up with his big brother!
