CT Trip Day #3 "James Michael"

Rae and I were anxious to get back to the hospital on Sunday morning because there was NO WAY we wanted to miss our new little nephew being born! Noah was excited too! I just can't get enough of that little grin!

When we got back up to the hospital they hadn't started Karianne's petocin yet and so she was still pretty calm and relaxed. She said she had gotten SOME sleep the night before but I think she was too anxious to get any really good rest. That's understandable. Again, though, I couldn't help but laugh when I showed up at the hospital and who was on their phone!?!? KARIANNE!!!! Ha!! I guess she better get in all the "phone time" she can before baby arrives...

And the waiting begins...we thought...

They started Karianne's petocin and epidural and within a matter of minutes she was in full blown labor! She was unfortunately still able to feel quite a bit of pain and so the nurse came in to see if they could call the anesthesiologist to increase her epidural but, thankfully, before she called them she decided to check Karianne and see what progress she had made. It's a good thing she did too because suddenly the nurse said "Whoa!" and announced to the room that Karianne was at a full 10 centimeters and ready to push!!!! What!?!? My baby sister is a machine!! Who goes thru labor that quickly!?!? And on their first baby!?!? I'm so proud!!!!

It was truly only a matter of minutes and my baby sister became a mommy!!!! Wow!!!! I was completely honored to be asked to stay in the room while Karianne gave birth and it was such a miracle! It's still unbelievable to me that a couple can go from two people in love to a family of three just like that! It literally takes my breath away! My baby sister did an amazing job through labor and her motherly instincts kicked in immediately.

Welcome to the world baby James!!!!

The nurse knew as soon as James came out that he was a big boy! Karianne had an ultrasound a couple weeks before James was born and they were estimating him, at that time, to be in the mid 8-pound range...well, he definitely grew after that!

Such a sweet boy!! The perfect combination of Kevin and Karianne!!

I knew Karianne was one tough mama but now I think she's a BEAST!!!! James weighed 9-pounds 13-ounces!!!! Whoa!!!! And she pushed him out with no trouble!!!! Go Kiki!!!!

James found his fingers immediately and was even sucking his thumb shortly after this!

Proud new daddy!

Gramma Pennie!

Auntie Ucka!

Aunt Rae!

James Michael Groves was born on September 23, 2012 at 4:42PM. He weighed 9pounds 13ounces and was 22 1/2 inches long! Welcome to the world James Michael! We're happy you're here!

While James was being born in Connecticut my boys were attending church and going out to eat with daddy at home in Oklahoma. I miss them so much! Nice 'staches boys!
