"Nature looks dead in winter because her life is gathered into her heart. She withers the plant down to the root that she may grow it up again fairer and stronger. She calls her family together within her inmost home to prepare them for being scattered abroad upon the face of the earth." Hugh Macmillan

long time, no see
When my newest nephew, James, was born my sister and I went to Connecticut to be there when he made his debut into the world! We knew, at the time, that we were going to see him again at Christmas but, having kids of our own, we also knew what three months does to a newborn! Ugh! In three months the itty bitty teeniness of a baby is gone. No longer do they sleep the day away only waking to eat. Instead they are alert, smiling, laughing and even rolling over. Why do babies have to grow up so fast!? So, when Christmas Eve finally arrived and we knew we were going to finally see baby James IN PERSON again we could hardly contain our excitement! Literally! My poor sister and brother-in-law were left out in the cold when they walked up to the front door and we snatched James from them (who was in the middle of having a bottle) and hardly even said hello to his mommy and daddy! Ha! (They should get used to it, I guess!!) Anyway, just as I had feared, James seemed like an entirely different baby than I had met a short three months before. While I was sad I had missed the first three months of my nephew's life I was also so excited to see him as he is now. He's such a happy boy and smiles and laughs at every single thing we say! He's simply the cutest! And he's so chunky! Ha! My heart was literally bursting knowing that he would be with us for two entire weeks! Now if only time could slow for those two weeks so that it feels like forever... (Oh! And don't you just LOVE James' Christmas PJ's?)
