water is his kryptonite

While we were at my sister's house for Christmas I was able to give my nephew, James, a bath one evening! He only has a baby tub at home but since cousin Noah is growing out of his bath seat James was able to give it a try! He LOVED it! His mommy said this was the first time he had sat up in the bath and was actually able to SEE the water while he was kicking and splashing. It was so neat to see him discover the water droplets for the first time and how they reacted to his touch. I always wonder what babies are thinking. I was so happy to give James his bath but Auntie's time didn't last long because what I didn't know about my nephew is that he HATES being cold. And when I say "HATES" I mean like, apocalyptic, end of the world hate reaction! Once James was wet and got a bit chilled he FREAKED OUT! You would have thought he was being tortured! Ha! That's when Auntie passed the bath time torch back to mommy and let her take over. Poor James. Once he was dry, in his PJ's and cuddled in a blanky he even still had the shortness of breath remnants of a really good sobbing cry! I've never seen a baby get so mad when he's wet and cold but I definitely found James' weakness! Ha! If I ever keep him overnight we may just skip bath time!
