"Nature looks dead in winter because her life is gathered into her heart. She withers the plant down to the root that she may grow it up again fairer and stronger. She calls her family together within her inmost home to prepare them for being scattered abroad upon the face of the earth." Hugh Macmillan

one beta, two beta, red beta, blue beta
When Aunt Kiki was here for a visit she (out of the blue) suggested that we go to PetSmart and just "look" around. Of course, all of the kids were excited but I knew she was up to something. Sneaky, sneaky! Once we were in PetSmart, Kiki whispered to me "Can I get your boys each a fish?" HUH!?!?!? I KNEW IT!!!! I was put on the spot and there was no way I could say no at that point so, of course, with a huff and a puff I gave in. (At least she wasn't asking to get them a puppy...) The boys each picked out their own beta fish. We also got a tank, rocks and decorations. I mean, a fish just won't be happy without a fake volcano in it's tank, right!? (Auntie logic...) The boys were so excited that they could hardly contain themselves. We got everything home and put it all together. The fish now live in the office and are doing very well! Ashtyn's fish is named "Bubbles" and Maddox's fish is named "Aragorn" (yes, from Lord of the Rings). It's funny, now that we've had the fish for several weeks I've noticed that each boys' fish fits their individual personality perfectly! No joke! There's no way I'm imagining things, but when I walk into the office to feed the fish Ashtyn's fish swims away, startled, and hides behind it's rock while Maddox's fish literally charges at the glass full speed and tries to attack me! I know it sounds crazy but it's true! Ha!
